Formation Conditions of Titan’s and Enceladus’s Building Blocks in Saturn’s Circumplanetary Disk

Abstract The building blocks of Titan and Enceladus are believed to have formed in a late-stage circumplanetary disk (CPD) around Saturn. Evaluating the evolution abundances volatile species this as function migration, growth, evaporation icy grains is then primary importance assess origin material that eventually these two moons. Here we use simple prescription Saturn’s CPD which location centrifugal radius varied, investigate time icelines water ice, ammonia hydrate, methane clathrate, carbon monoxide, dinitrogen pure condensates. To match their compositional data, both moons would had form region situated between monoxide at outer limit, iceline clathrate inner limit. We find source dust does not guarantee replenishment volatiles assumed be primordial Enceladus. Only simulations assuming range 66–100 Saturnian radii allow for formation growth solids with compositions consistent those measured Titan. able evolve solid forms system longer periods time, even reaching an equilibrium, thus favoring Enceladus’s disk.
